Edelweiss Around the World Expedition
After three years of absence, the Around the World Motorcycle Expedition from Edelweiss is taking off again. This first leg takes riders from Moscow to Bangkok. All together, the 63-day trip will go through Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Laos and Thailand.
Altogether the team consists of 15 expedition members coming from 6 different countries and two experienced expedition leaders on the motorcycle.
Starting point of this overland journey is Moscow, where the group will spend a few days to take care of some last minute adjustments and to get attuned for the upcoming adventure.
From there, the route will take them along the Golden Ring and Ekaterinburg into the mostly unknown Kazakhstan. Astana and the former Alma Ata are more than attractive destinations along the route.
The roads the expedition group takes are mostly unknown and for sure some of them have never been used by motorcycle riders before. After some riding days in Kyrgyzstan it is time to cross the border into China – one of the biggest countries on the planet.
The daily rides will enable the group to enjoy gorgeous scenery, unknown culture and incredible sights, like the famous Terracotta Army at Xian – all of this can be soaked in to the fullest during several rest days.
The next country, Laos, is also not a typical tourist country. Over rugged jungle roads and perfectly paved asphalt routes the group will make its way along the Mekong, heading South for the final destination Bangkok.
